Never Going Back Talks About Life, Love, FaithNew CD From Country Music Star Collin Raye
Country Music Star, Collin Raye, has a new CD called Never Going Back. Raye sings about life and love with faith being a common thread throughout.
Collin Raye has had a successful music career by anyone’s standards. With four #1 Billboard country singles, 21 top 10 singles, and numerous award nominations, Raye is very accomplished. So when making his next album Raye wanted to create something that elicits comfortable feelings of days gone by, while still being relevant. Never Going Back is Raye’s successful attempt at getting to the roots of music but he manages to do it in a way that stays current. His website puts says it best, “reveling in the sound of the ‘70s era Southern California folk/country/rock n roll movement but not reliving it.” Collin Raye’s Faith Shines Through on Never Going Back Collin Raye’s faith has always been a huge part of his life and on Never Going Back it is a major theme. To start things off, Raye does a motivating Southern Gospel rendition of “Get Up in Jesus’ Name”. It’s a live recording and will leave everyone tapping their feet and maybe dancing in the pews. “The Only Jesus” reminds us of who lives in us. It’s got a Country Rock feel that could be played on any country radio station. Filled with great advice, like not judging, Raye’s passion comes through as he sings. The chorus is insightful and something we should all take to heart. It says, “Who am I to judge him, don’t know what he’s been through. If I read the Bible right that’s only something God can do. If I can help him out of darkness and see the Light in me, I might be the only Jesus he will ever see.” “The Cross” is a story about a man helping a woman on the side of the road. He finds out that her husband died there in a car accident “a year ago December.” She comes to the wooden cross on the side of the road to celebrate his life. Once again wisdom is found in the chorus, “I guess there’s something about me coming here when I’m feeling lost. When I need to find my peace of mind I just come to the cross.” Collin Raye Sings About Life and Love on Never Going Back The first single on Never Going Back is “Mid-Life Chrysler”. It’s another rockin’ country tune about a middle age man with proper perspective. He’s a hard working man who’s still in love with his wife. Instead of acting like a fool and wishing he was younger, this man enjoys where he’s at. A message we could all take to heart. “She’s With Me” is about unconditional love. The struggles we may go through when we have to take care of loved ones pale in comparison to the feeling they give us. Whether we are taking care of an elderly wife or a brand new baby the sacrifice is more than worth it. With strings playing softly and an acoustic guitar, Raye’s voice floats through telling the story with one who know this unconditional love. Never Going Back Looks Forward Collin Raye has worked with some excellent songwriters and musicians in the past and has mined some hit songs that hit the heart. Never Going Back is easily as good as anything Raye has done in that past. With heartfelt lyrics, passionate vocals, and quality music, Never Going Back may be his finest work yet.
