Music City-based songwriters Bridgette Tatum and Danny Myrick have garnered their first top-country hit, thanks to country singer Jason Aldean's energetic interpretation.

Nashville-based country tunesmiths Bridgette Tatum and Danny Myrick are celebrating the record-breaking success of Jason Aldean’s new album, Wide Open, these days, since the pair inked the record’s debut single, She’s Country.

Songwriters for Route 49 Music, both Tatum and Myrick are relishing the country radio success and fan response to She’s Country, a track that has helped Aldean’s third and latest CD sell more than 108,000 units its first week—an accomplishment that landed Wide Open at the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and in the No. 4 slot on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 chart.

Country Singer Jason Aldean Debuts She's Country at CMA Awards

Aldean debuted She’s Country on live television last November during the 42nd Annual CMA Awards in Nashville, but road-tested the single throughout his headlining CMT tour last fall. From there, the song quickly connected with country music fans and has become the fastest rising single of Aldean’s career thus far.

Most recently, the tune, which became the first No. 1 chart single for tunesmiths Tatum and Myrick on April 27, 2009, also landed in the No.1 spot on iTunes all-genre ringtone chart and a music video was made in its honor.

Hit-Country Songwriter Makes Emotion-Packed Music

Regarding the hit-country song, South Carolina native Tatum, in an April 15, 2009, e-mail correspondence, said, “I’m an extremist. I make music that I want to hear. If it’s a ballad, you’re going to hurt. If it’s a rockin’ tune, you are going to rock ‘n’ roll ‘til your pants fall off.”

Currently working to release her own CD, Tatum, in a March 12, 2009, blog about the success of She’s Country wrote that while she’s “not really good at bragging,” she did want to share that she was “feeling overwhelmed with the support and how responsible the public has been to adopt this song and this sound!”

Country Fans Deserve Thanks for Hit Song's Success at Country Radio, Says Songwriter

There are indeed a slew of country girls in the world, including herself, she noted. However, “I feel like if anyone should be patting themselves on the back, it should be the listeners! You did this. The song is only a song until you responded to it, and not only have you responded to it, you have demanded it … and you are the ones giving this song 12 million-plus plays on MySpace!”

Tatum's celebration of her inaugural country hit will continue, with the aspiring solo country artist joining Aldean in concert on May 21, 2009, at the Speed Street 600 Festival in Charlotte, N.C. But before then, she'll rejoin her partner in rhyme, Mississippi native Myrick--who's also penned International Harvester, a former No. 10 single by country singer Craig Morgan--to perform April 29-May 3, 2009, at the Key West Songwriters' Festival in Florida.

Fans of Tatum-Myrick collaborations can expect to hear some six songs co-penned by the pair on Tatum's upcoming CD, including Hillbilly Rockstar, the tentative first single from the yet-to-be-named disc, according to an April 2009 press release.

“Right now is a good place to be in,” says Tatum in her artist biography. “I know who I am and I know who I’m going to be. I know what my responsibility is in that.”
