With an honesty in his music that hearkens back to traditional country acts like Alabama, Jason Aldean is quickly becoming a household name in country music.
Traditional ballads like "Why", "Laughed Until We Cried", and "Big Green Tractor" are paired with songs that unapologetically turn it up a notch like "Johnny Cash", "Hicktown" and "She's Country" in a combination that could only be described as Jason Aldean. Born in Macon, Georgia on February 28, 1977 and his childhood was spent between his mother in Macon and his father in Homestead, Florida. It was during those summers that his father taught him how to play the guitar. When he was fourteen, Jason took to the stage for the first time, singing two songs at VFW Hall in Macon, a gig that his mothernarranged. By the next year he became a member of the house band at Nashville South, a nightclub in Macon. After graduation, his band began playing in college towns throughout Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Jason Aldean's Move to NashvilleIn 1998 Jason played a showcase of his original songs at The Buckboard, an Atlanta nightclub, where he was noticed by Michael Knox who signed him to a publishing contract with Warner-Chappell. It only took one month for him to be offered a recording contract, however, it didn't last very long as he was soon dropped. Another record deal ended in 2000 after he continually postponed his recording sessions. After several years of showcases had left him without a contract, Jason was spotted at the Wildhorse Saloon by Lawrence Mathis who became his first manager. Disheartened, he gave himself six months before he would return to Georgia, only five weeks later, Broken Bow Records offered him a deal. Jason Aldean's Self-Titled Album2005 marked the release of Jason's first album which went on to peak at #6 on the Billboard Country Album Chart. The first single from the album, "Hicktown" made the country music community stand up and take notice and peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This was followed up with his first number one "Why" and the #4 single "Amarillo Sky" (which had been a single for McBride and the Ride in 2002). The success of his first album (which went on to go platinum in 2007) earned Jason the Top New Male Vocalist award at the 2006 ACM Awards. The "Relentless" AlbumOn May 29, 2007, Jason released his second album "Relentless" which at Wal-Mart was realeased with a DVD of his performances. The album was produced by Michael Knox, who first signed him with Warner-Chappell. The lead off single, "Johnny Cash" (which was originally recorded by Tracy Byrd) made it to #6 on the Billboard charts. This was followed by "Laughed Until We Cried" his fifth consecutive Top 10, which also went to #6 and "Relentless" which was his first single not to make it into the Top 10. Wide OpenHis third album, "Wide Open" was released on April 7, 2009 and debuted at #2 on the Top Country Album chart. The first single, "She's Country" became his second #1 single and was also his first Top 40 hit, debuting at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He continued his success with his third #1, "Big Green Tractor", which was co-written by David Lee Murphy and Jim Collins.
